It is time to work on link development once your site is published. One way, incoming links are the best. These one way links are the quickest way to get listed in Google and Yahoo. There is no need to list your site directly with the search engines. I have listed below a list of directories where you may submit your sites. I have hand picked these, and many will show your link on pages with good PR. All the following directories are free to submit to without any reciprocal link requirements. Many have a paid option which you may consider. Choosing the free option is fine.
When you submit your site to the top directories, it is always best if your site can be on a directory page category with good page rank. Even though the home page of many directories may have good page rank, not all the category pages do. However, do not despair if your link is on a category page with zero page rank. Google does toolbar updates of the PR rankings several times a year. It is quite possible the the page your link is on already has more page rank than the Google toolbar shows, or it soon will.
It takes a few hours to submit to all these directories, and it will surely be some of your best spent marketing time.
