Internet Marketing Gold: Micro Niche Keywords A beginner contacted me about his two sites which were producing poorly for him. The links were for sites he created on Blogger. Most of the time, when a beginner uses those types of sites, there are other problems too. I was correct. As near as I could tell, the closest he had come to SEO was using the word “AdSense” quite a few times on the blog page. That term only has 43.6 million results in Google. Hmm, maybe that is why his site is not getting traffic. Ya Think! I don’t believe beginners to Internet marketing who attempt something like this are lacking in IQ or even common sense. I think they simply do not understand even the most basic of Internet marketing concepts. Most of my newsletter recipients have learned how futile it is to go after such a humungous “niche”. However, I still see many beginners who are not drilling down far enough to reach those micro niche areas where success is waiting. I want you to think about the following example and then apply it to your own niche area. Jane the beginner likes dogs. However, she KNOWS “dogs” is too broad an area. OK, so she decides to narrow it down to “dog training”. There, that should do it. She begins creating a site with such keywords as “how to train dogs”, “basic dog training”, “dog training tips”, etc. Jane is still waiting for traffic after 3 months of hard work. What she SHOULD have done was drill down farther into the niche. The exact phrase, “teach a dog to fetch” only has 338 results! Ranking high up on that first page of search results would be like taking candy from babies for that search term! Other keywords like “teach a dog to stay”, “potty train a dog”, “train a dog to heel”…and the list goes on…would be similarly easy to rank for! No, these keywords won’t max out your bandwidth with traffic, but they will provide much needed traffic which is accumulative. Plus, seeing your efforts pay off with actual first page listings is GREAT motivation! Take this example and apply it to your own marketing methods! Find and exploit those micro niche areas you may be overlooking!
