What You Don't Know Can and Will Hurt You! You Gotta Put the Marketing Into Internet Marketing Believe it or not, one of the things that beginners in Internet MARKETING neglect most is …..you guessed it….Marketing! I was the same way. I spent so much time making my sites look good, learning about SEO, building lists, etc. that I neglected to study and apply the fundamental aspects of marketing psychology. I, like many, thought that all I had to do was work hard, make nice looking sites and create and/or offer valuable products. Luckily, I fell into the 1% group who actually enjoy success online. (Yes, 99% of everyone attempting online marketing never even see their first hundred bucks.) So if hard work and dedication are not enough, what’s a new marketer need to do to enjoy success? Uhhh….let’s see…how about LEARN MARKETING! And I’m not talking about the nuts and bolts techniques of SEO, list building, page design, etc. It’s obvious (or should be) that newbies have to learn that stuff first. The marketing I refer to here will make or break all your other efforts. No matter how much traffic you can generate, no matter how large you can build your list, no matter how pretty your site is, if sales don’t result in the end, you’ve wasted your time. No matter if you promote affiliate products or sell physical products, the resulting success is tied directly to the quality of your marketing. You might think that an attractive offer for a product of good value is all that’s required. Don’t we ALL wish it was that easy! (Except for the advertising agencies out there who rake in billions promising to perfect the pitch.) Look, I’ve been there and suffered those mistakes and it ain’t fun. If you have the basics down pretty well and things still aren’t going your way, you either are in the wrong niche, trying to sell to the wrong people, your product is lame….or you are Marketing 101 illiterate. Since it’s true that great marketing can sell refrigerators to the Eskimos, it’s a pretty safe bet your marketing skills are lacking. I know there is a lot to learn. I know learning the tangible nuts and bolts type things are more rewarding for most of you. Heck, if you work your rear off learning web design, you at least have a cool web site to show for it. Maybe it doesn’t make any sales, but you have something to show for your effort anyway. Learning marketing psychology and what REALLY makes the difference between buyers and lookers may not be as fun, but it has to be done. Real marketers read real marketing books and study what real marketers have to say. The Ultimate Sales Letter, Scientific Advertising, Words That Sell, and How to Write a Good Advertisement should be on your bookshelf right now…as they are on mine. Next, you need a marketing mentor guru you can get to know and learn from. I discovered Dan Kennedy early in my career and subscribed to his newsletter. Dan’s World style of marketing that he teaches is priceless! I don’t know what percent of my current success could be attributed to what I learned from Dan, but the number is high. Most beginners think they can’t afford the small newsletter price. Believe me; you can’t afford avoiding a true Marketing 101 education. Your success really hinges on how well you understand and can apply basic marketing principles. It’s just that simple How many more info packages a month do I sell because I now understand marketing psychology better? I don’t know. But I DO know that the sale of JUST ONE copy of SEO 4X, for example, pays for my monthly newsletter with Dan and a new marketing book from Amazon. The rest of the sales are just icing on our cake! Heck, Dan even makes it easy and FREE to get started. He’ll give you 2 months of his newsletter and whole pile of other free videos and downloads just for signing up. Get Dan’s Free Offer and learn from a real marketing genius…at least for 2 months. Also, logon to Amazon.com and order a few of the marketing books I mentioned above. Dan's Articles
