I’ve told this story before, but since it’s one of my favorites, I’ll share it with you again.

While driving home one day from my job (my STRESS filled job) some years back, I was thinking about what kind of Internet business I could begin. I was tired of my job and was interested in the Internet business. However, after many failed attempts over the past several years, I was getting pretty down about it all; nothing I tried ever worked.

Everything changed for me that day.

Here’s the epiphany I had while driving home:

I realized that all the people who were having success online probably had average intelligence and they WERE NOT simply lucky! In other words, they weren’t playing the lottery and they weren’t smarter than the average person (me).

That insight really set me free. Then and there I decided to stop all the nonsense I had been trying and go about the task of investigating just how those people were succeeding at something I wanted so desperately for myself.

I’ll make a very long story short.

Basically, one of the first things I discovered was that many of them were using something called SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to get world-wide advertising in Google, Yahoo and MSN. Something about that concept of having my site on the first page of Google really tickled my fancy.

I already had some simple web design skills (a must), so all I did was bury myself in learning SEO. By the way, I am VERY glad PayPerClick didn’t show itself to me like SEO did! Knowing now how difficult PPC is, my success would have been greatly delayed!

I learned some SEO skills, applied them to my new site, started making some sales about a month later, and the rest is history! I do a lot more than just SEO now. However, it is still the cornerstone of most of my businesses.

What I want you to understand today is that success with Internet marketing is not a distant dream you might be able to realize someday. Instead, success is right there at your keyboard waiting for you to learn the concepts of Internet marketing and put action behind that knowledge!
