Google: Your Site's Best Friend!
Plain and simple: For success, you NEED to rank well in the search engines! Love them or hate them, Google is king of search. Over half of all searches done in the U.S. are with Google. In fact, over 90% of all searches are performed with the top 4 search engines: Google, Yahoo, MSN, and AOL. (AOL uses Google's engine for their listings.) Therefore, there is no need to be "listed in the top 100 search engines" Actually, great placements in just Google and Yahoo will be enough for a site to enjoy tremendous success. Learning how to market your website is the key to a beginning Internet marketer's success! I have found that when one of my pages does well in Google it also does well in Yahoo. This is not always the case, but it happens enough that Google is really all a new site owner has to worry about. The Basics of Doing Well in Google: The site MUST have plenty of great content no matter what it is selling or offering! This is the single most important factor. If your site simply has things for sale without plenty of original and targeted content, it will not rank well. There MUST be a plan behind the content. My products go into great detail about how to choose and optimize specific keywords into your content. Hint: Keyword tools play just one small part in the actual process! Use only basic HTML to create your site with. CSS is great, but no Flash! Google likes words - not bloated code! This is why templates and wizards DO NOT WORK. Title the page with the keyword the page was optimized for (using part of the keyword in the file name is a good idea too). Have keyword targeted links to your other pages within the content. Submit your site to as many relevant directories as possible. If you do trade links, remember that it does no good to have a link to your dog related site on a page about autos. Keep adding content to your site! |
