Plain and Simple… Niche Selection Can Make Or Break As a beginning online marketer, this may be the most important article you read. Have you found your niche? Do you know where or how to look for one? What is an Internet marketing niche? The answer varies person to person. A correct niche for me is probably not a good niche for you to begin with. Basically, a niche is a subset of interests, ideas, or products of a larger group. For example, the area of “Dogs” is very large. However, “Diabetic Dogs” might be a niche a beginner could get traction with. If you are new to Internet marketing, it is very important you understand how important traffic is and how difficult it is to get. You see, no matter how great your website is and how wonderful your product is, none of that matters if your site does not receive much or any traffic. Far too many beginning marketers waste hours of time creating a site which will never receive traffic! When deciding upon a niche, it’s important not to spend one minute of work on the site or its content until proper niche research is conducted. These research steps are simple and usually only take a few hours of work. The results show us if the niche has potential or if we should look elsewhere. The last thing we want to have happen is to pick a niche which either does not have a large enough market OR one which we have no chance of competing in. There are no guarantees, but with proper research we are able to make a very educated decision as to the potential the niche has. Choosing your niche is not only the first step in building a successful online business, it is perhaps the most important step in the entire process. Conducting the necessary research insures that beginning marketers get onto the correct road initially and are not sidetracked by ideas that had no chance of success. One of the first exercises the students in my coaching program go through is learning the techniques for finding profitable niches. Without that skill, there is not much point in continuing with anything else.
