What is more frustrating than not having ANY AdSense clicks on your new site? Actually, being stuck with four or five dollars a day worth of clicks and not being able to increase causes even greater frustration. When Google gives you that first taste of success, you really begin to see the possibilities! At that point you want to grow those clicks more than ever; you can TASTE real success coming around the corner.

Too often the beginner is simply stuck at that point with no idea of what to do. The simple answer is more traffic…lots more traffic! A site making a few dollars per day is in a MUCH better position to grow traffic than a site making none. However, the majority of site owners do not use the most basic tool of all to grow the traffic.

Since a site earning a few dollars each day IS getting some traffic, it is IMPERATIVE the site owner knows every single detail about that that existing traffic.

• Exactly where did the traffic come from? Google? Yahoo? Forums? Where?
• What keywords actually brought the traffic?
• How long did the visitors stay on the site? Did most visitors take one look and click the back button in two seconds? How long were they on the site?
• Which links on each page were most popular for the visitors? What about the traffic to the other pages? Are some of your “best” pages not bringing any traffic?

An AdSense site owner MUST know the answers to these questions! The number one way to build traffic is to understand you current traffic! (Read that again!)

Many hosts provide some site analytics; most of them are not comprehensive enough. I use Google Analytics for all my sites and highly suggest it. Best of all, Google does not charge for it! It’s a powerful tool and very easy to use. Simply paste a short piece of code on your site’s pages and Google does the rest in providing a wealth of information about your site’s traffic!

Of course you need a real website in order to track your traffic. Many “wizard” type sites do not allow for the use of Google analytics since the script code must be pasted onto the pages. If you are struggling with site design, you simply have to get past that part in order to easily create the AdSense sites you need for success.
