Are You Making These But first... Here's why I LOVE Google AdSense
AdSense really is just a hobby. My main work is consulting with and creating tutorials for beginners who are building online businesses. But I sure like those Google checks each month! Google AdSense offers a tremendous opportunity for those willing to learn AND implement a successful system. However, there are 3 major mistakes beginners make which ruin their chances for success. Mistake #1: Don't be an MFA site! MFA stands for "Made for AdSense". You don't want ANY search engine forced into judging whether or not yours is an MFA site! If Google or any other engine thinks your site's main purpose is to generate AdSense income without providing good content, you are toast; all your efforts will be wasted as your site is stuck on page 47, or worse, of the search engine results. Do not get me wrong. We are of course making sites for AdSense income. However, the search engines EXPECT quality content on those sites. Otherwise, they are considered MFA. Here's what I suggest: Don't put AdSense ads on your page until it is getting at least some traffic from the search engines (be sure to have analytics installed to watch for search engine traffic or Mistake #2 The second big mistake beginners make is to fill every page with every single ad and link unit Google allows. Don't make your page look like you are "begging" for someone to click. Believe it or not, from all I have read and my own testing, less is more in this case. There are several reasons for this. However, in this short page I won't go into all the details. If you don't believe me, test it yourself. You will find that one or two, well placed ad groups, on a page will usually do better than three or four groups and units combined. By the way, failing to test is really a huge mistake which almost every beginner makes. Mistake #3 This is more a failure than a mistake. Most beginners FAIL to consider traffic. Simply creating a site with AdSense Ads is not enough. How will the site get traffic? No traffic means no clicks! The secret to getting free traffic is:
If you are just beginning AdSense, remember that you have to "crawl before you can walk". Earning Google checks is not hard, but there is a learning curve to go through. |
